Vision REST API is a direct way global clients can connect with the entire suite of Jesta products, explore their rich functionality (features, operations, views and more), and easily and securely obtain data for their critical application needs.
REST-based APIs (or RESTful APIs) facilitate interoperability between software systems on the Internet. The architecture is web-based; its communication protocol is http or https. With RESTFUL APIs, URLs function as resources consisting of hypermedia links, each of which contains content to fulfill a different http action: GET, DELETE, POST and UPDATE, for example. Conceptually the process is akin to browsing the NET, clicking on a Navigation Bar and then searching dropdowns for a specific webpage.
Jesta’s Vision REST API contains extensive metadata for discoverability and complies with OData, an ISO/IEC approved, OASIS standard that ensures RESTFUL APIs are easy to consume. There are absolutely no restrictions on the type of data that can be exchanged: a Word or Excel file, a PDF, a GIF or JPEG, XML, JSON and on and on. This freedom and convenience doesn’t exist with other web services. Consider SOAP, for example; it relies exclusively on XML.
