“We don’t get milk from the milk man anymore, but if we go online at 10am, we can get our milk delivered to us probably by noon and this is due to technology,” said Bob Amster, Principal at The Retail Technology Group. “In terms of concepts, nothing has changed, but the technology has helped to enhance the entire expedience. Consumers seem to be more starved for time then they were in the past and therefore they need the speed of response.”

“Through technology, including clienteling and customer relationship management tools, I think we’ve gone back to the Avon Lady, but from a digital point of view,” added Judith Kangas, Manager of Business Development and Strategic Alliances at Jesta I.S. “I order from Amazon occasionally and I literally get it overnight. Then there’s follow-up: How did you enjoy the product? Did it serve your needs etc.? Returns are very easy as well. Technology has really enhanced that Avon Lady story to make us much more satisfied to go online.”

The podcast explores other exciting ways that technology is reshaping “what was” to “what is.” Tune in for more fun, past-to-present insights:

• Are Social Influencers the new Avon Ladies?
• Is By Now, Pay Later (BNPL) simply Layaway?
• Will digital wallets replace cash and credit cards?
• Is Buy Online, Pickup In Store (BOPIS) reminiscent of Consumers Distributing?
